NDIS life skills development in Canberra
Barmil supports NDIS life skills development in Canberra through learning and practice. Choose a practical skill you want to build, such as preparing a meal, planning shopping or organising your week, and we can discuss manageable steps.

Practise today. Build confidence over time.
NDIS life skills support is about learning how to do something and practising it over time. Development of life skills can involve breaking a task into steps, trying a step together and reviewing what makes it easier to remember or repeat.
A useful goal might be writing your own shopping list or preparing one familiar meal. We discuss a suitable setting and pace, then revisit the skill with you. Progress looks different for everyone, and no particular outcome or timetable is promised.
Life skills development focuses on learning. If you mainly need assistance carrying out a routine today, daily living support may be the more relevant service. The two can complement one another without having the same purpose.

Your questions
Do I need to start with a big goal?
No. A small goal, such as preparing one meal or organising a weekly shopping list, can be a useful starting point.
Where does life skills support happen?
The setting depends on the skill and your circumstances. Discuss whether practice at home or in the community is appropriate and available.
Can I change the skills I work on?
Your priorities may change. We can discuss adjustments to your goals and the support arrangements as you go.
